ResponderEliminarThis activity is for a "segundo medio" class in which I participate.
OFT: To Guide the way the person interacts with other people and the world.
ResponderEliminarFor this OFT I developed an activity that will work for either the second or third grade class I´ve been attending to.
Fist, the class is divided into five groups of five people each. Since both classes have around 25 students each, this arrangement will work quite well. Later each group is given a balloon with vocabulary category written on it. Since the purpose of the activity is to encourage the student to interact with the outside world I would use vocabulary related to family, occupations, feelings, etc. For this, it may be necessary to previously review these contents with the students before the activity. Each group will receive a different category written on their balloon. Then the group has to get in a circle and the balloon is thrown in the middle. The idea is not letting the balloon touch the ground, but each time the student hits the balloon she must say a vocabulary word related to the category written on the balloon, of course, the word has to be in English. When the group runs out of words to say, it is the next´s group´s turn. The idea is that the rest of the class pays attention to the vocabulary the other groups call out, so they can be discussed later. For example, if one group calls out “occupations”, and they mention “doctor”, “teacher” and “musician”, they have to say what each of them do, for example: “the doctor cures people”, etc.
The fact that they have to keep the balloon from touching the ground encourages team work, while having fun. And having to describe occupations, or family makes them aware of society and the community they are living in.

OFT: Formación Ética relativos al respeto y valoración de modos de ser, pensar y valorar de otras culturas.
ResponderEliminarThe following activity will be applied to an eight grade, in primary, in which the students will have to read a text about different cultures of at least 5 or 6 different countries. I would give them the vocabulary, which includes adjectives mainly, in order to describe any country, as if they belong to any of it.
First, they have to read the text about Japan, Australia, Chile, Brazil, France, Cuba’s cultures, for example. Then they will have to make groups of 5, because they are exactly 30 in the classroom. Each group will have to choose one of the countries of the text and they will have to study it and pick up the main ideas, which describe better each culture. Each group will have to talk about the country they chose and discuss the main ideas as if they were from those places.
After the students talk about each topic in groups, they will have to describe their country, using the main adjectives and simple words of the text. They will have to describe the way they live, how people are, the food, the typical places of the country, for example.
And finally, each group will have to expose the description, maintaining a dialogue between them. If they do not manage all the vocabulary, sometimes they could express their ideas through movements, and their classmates will have to infer what they are trying to say.
But, the idea here is that students learn to pay attention to the other and knowing about other cultures, trying to represent it as if they were part of the culture they are talking about. This will make them more respectful between them and also will give them knowledge about different cultures in the world.

ResponderEliminarThis activity is planned to an 8th grade class. In order to introduce the activity the students are going to talk about a culture (different for our) that they know or have a little information. The teacher guides the class and asks some question about: How many different cultures do they know? What are the most important difference between one culture and another? This first part is about ten minutes.
Second the students are going to read a text about Islamic culture. The activity must take about five minutes. As soon as they finish the reading task, they are going to write the main differences about Islamic culture and our. Then all the class is going to comment these differences. In order to conclude the activity the students should do a paper or a big card about the differences between our culture and Islamic culture.
The idea of this activity is that the students be capable of identified the customs of other cultures, and the most important thing, respect them.
OFT: CRECIMIENTO Y AUTOAFIRMACIÓN PERSONAL: RESPECTO AL DESARROLLO DEL PENSAMIENTO:
This activity is focus on a first and second year. The students are going to listen an audio about a story in relation to a special trip and the discovery of a new planet. Before listening the audio the idea is introduced the students in this activity asking them: What they know about different planets? Then the students are going to listen the audio. After that the students are going to comment the audio with their classmates and the teacher. The second activity is related to imagination: they have to think in the characters named in the story and they should give a description about how they imagined these. In order to finish the activity the students have to draw their favourite character of the story and the planet mentioned.
The idea of this activity is to develop the creativity and imagination of the students.

ResponderEliminarThis activity will take place in a 7th grade in San Judas Tadeo School. First we decided to use this OFT in order to encourage the creativity and develop a critical point of view among the students. We are going to show them a movie which is called “I am Sam”, since present a controversial issue in our society, so it would be good for the students to be aware of problems like: discrimination, handicap, important family values, etc. This task will be developed in two sessions; in one session they will watch the film, and the second one they will discuss the main ideas and make a composition about what they learned from the film.
To introduce the activity we are going to give a brief explanation about what they have to do and why this activity is important to them. The main idea is that students get involved with the film by making a comparison between their lives and the movie.

ResponderEliminarThe following activity will be applied to a fifth grade. They love to play and they love sing and learn songs . So, I got the idea – in order to promote the OFT about teamwork- that the students will have to form groups of 4 pupils and carry on the following activity:
1.- They will listen and watch the video of the song “The Elephant Song” . (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cBtid-v_JE )
2.- In this song, a lot of animals are mention. The pupils will have to work as a whole and write the names of the animals in the order in which they appear in the song.
3.- Then, they will have to make a poster with the drawings of the animals mentionated in the song.
Doing this activity, the pupils will be able to socialize more between them, to learn to tolerate and respect what the team members think and in this way to assure the efficiency of his work. At the same time, they will learn in an easily and didactic way, the names of the animals and also they will practice their artistic skills.
The activity that I decided to do is for the 3th grade, and the OFT that develops it would be Self-esteem and self-confidence. Respect and value different ideas. Recognizing the dialogue as a source of
ResponderEliminarhumanization.
Right now the students are working on vocabulary, specifically in the parts of a house, so I decided that a good activity would be the following:
The idea is that the students work in pairs, they would be sitting in front of each other, one student looking at the board and the other student with his back to the board where differents words would be writen, so he/she cannot see what the teacher wrote on the board.
The student that is looking at the words has to discribe them without telling his classmate what it is, for example if the word on the board is “bed” the student should say: “it’s on the bedroom, we use it when we sleep...etc” until the other student guess the word. And then switch roles.
With this activity the students would be able to respect each others ideas, to trust in their classmates and also, to feel more confident about themselves while having fun.

ResponderEliminarThe following activity will be applied in the eight grade. The class will be divided into groups of five students and they will have to read a text called “My School Day” that tells about the school day of a british boy. After that, they have to reflect and discuss about the differences between the text and their own school lives. Then each group have to choose someone to expose what they discussed, in front of the class. When all the groups have exposed their ideas we are going to explain that we wanted to know what they think about these two different lifestyles (the british boy's life and their own lives) and also we are going to explain them and make them notice that these cultures are different, but none is better than the other. So we have to be respectful to other cultures and obviously with our own culture.

ResponderEliminarLos OFT del ámbito Persona y su Entorno referidos al trabajo en equipo (entre pares y grupos pequeños, en este caso), que el programa define como básico para muchas de sus actividades.”
This activity will be applied to an 5 grade. The students are working on descriptions and parts of the body. In order to increase their knowledge, firstly in pairs they will sit in front to each other , each one will have to describe in one minute to the other person depending on what she is seeing, I mean in terms of hair color and form, eyes, skin, height , etc .
The second part will be more didactic, I will have pieces of paper in which will be written some characteristics of each girl. Then each one will have to choose one and depending on the description that is on the paper they will have to say the name of the classmate that correspond.
This activity will help the girls in terms of vocabulary and speaking too. Also It is important that they learn since they are little girls how to work in pairs or in groups respecting the turns of each one.
This activity will be applied in seventh grade. In the class are around 27 kids, so we will divide the course into small groups; 2 groups of 6 kids and 3 groups of 5 kids.
We will give to the students some text abouts differents cultures in Chile. Then they will have to choose which one of them they want to do. The text will be about, Atacameños, Diaguitas, Araucanos, Onas, Pehuenches and Puelches.
After that they will have to read the text, discuss about the topic, extract the best ideas about it and add more information. That will be the first part of the work. Then in the same group, they will have to prepare a performance in order to show to the rest of the class. They will have to create a dialogue in which they’ ll show their culture, using vocabulary according to the topic.
In the performance they can use everything that they need. We mean, they can wear costumes, bring stuff in order to create scenography, that things. And at the end of the presentation the rest of the course can ask everything that they don’t understand or add some information. The main idea of this workshop will be: the students will learn about different culture that there are in our country and they will learn new vocabulary.

Assignment:
Los OFT del ámbito Formación Ética relativos al respeto y valoración de modos de ser, pensar y valorar de otras culturas.
At the begining, I'll show to my students some pictures or videos about diferent kind of greetings around the world. in a powerpoint for example. then I'll ask them what do they think about this kind of greetings? and after I'll teach them all the vocabulary about the different way of greeting. for example: one kiss on cheek, or two kisses on both cheeks; to shake hands to other people; just say hello or something ; a wink; a hug, etc. Also some pictures about other customs in different countries.
But with this the students just are not going to increase their knowledge in order to learn english, in fact, they are going to learn more about the different customs all over the world and even they are going to respect and recognize them.

ResponderEliminarFor this class, they are asked to bring some materials: A sheet of “block”and different kind of pencils. I will start by asking the students what do they know about another country. It should take about five minutes, where they will give opinions about some knowledge that they have or some experience that they could have lived before, related to the theme.
With that activity already finished, I will give them a sheet of paper which contains a text with main characteristics of five different countries; England, Colombia, Egypt, China and Australia. I will pick some students for reading, correcting pronuntiation and clearing some vocabulary that is uncommon for them. Then, I will ask them to explain in English whether they like foreign countries or not, and why; this activity will take around fifteen minutes, because I will ask for several opinions, in order to improve English speaking. It doesn’t matter if they do not know how to say the complete idea in English, because all students have to cooperate. After that, I would give them the opportunity to choose one of those countries and, in groups (from 2 to 4 people), create a tryptich about the chosen one, but, if the class has many students, countries can be repeated just twice. The idea is to talk about all the countries metioned. They will have to use the requested sheet of “block” and bend it in three equal parts. The tryptich must include cultural aspects, images and interesting places to visit in that country. The idea is to give reader a possitive image about the country and to do a creative work. All things, of course, have to be written in English. They will have to use the information in the read text and complement it with other pieces of information that they will have to search for in home for next class. The task will have a mark.
After my explanation about the activity, they will have the time left to form their groups and plan their tryptich; what do they want to include and how to introduce different themes. I will answer questions from them and guide them. When the session finishes, I will remind them to look for more information.
Next class, they will have to finish the tryptich, complementing it with another pieces of information. Then, with the work finished, they will have to perform a little presentation, reading their tryptichs in front of the class, exposing the ideas that each group had in order to do it more creative. With this work, I think that they can learn about countries from different continents and try to think about them in a possitive way; try to accept another costumes and ways of living.

I am going to put into practice this topic. The activity will be developed in a fourth grade in a primary school.
The first thing to do is create a list of adjectives to describe a common person.
Then I have to organize the class into four groups, each group must know the meaning of each adjective to can draw an expression of them. The result that I want is twenty papers with twenty pictures representing feelings that they could feel daily.
Later I will collect the papers and in front of the class I will show one by one the pictures and each group must tell loudly what adjective is and represent the meaning of it. For example, if I show the word “nice” the group of girls should represent this word, smiling.
Finally the group that could do more representations will be the winner.
With this activity, the class could learn more about adjectives that describe them and their actions.

The activity would be making with 8th grade of primary students from Liceo Pedro Montt, the class has 33 students. In this activity, the class will be divided in three groups. This activity will be guided by the two guided students and the principal teacher:
- First: The teacher will show some slides in English with the most important things of six countries in which English is native language (Canada, United States, New Zeland, Irish and Scotland). Important things like: culture, language, most visited places, government, education, religious beliefs, etc..
- Second: The teacher will give the next instructions: Every group will choose one of the mentioned countries. Their work is to show to their partners, with a dissertacion, a description of all the most important things of the country that they choose.
- Third: one of the guide teachers will ask to every group the country that they choose. Every group must have a different country, that’s the reason why the guide teacher will ask, each group will have a guide that may be the teacher or the assistants of the teacher in the classroom, this guide will help the leader of the group with the organization and will be useful in the translation of the information because all the information have to be in English.
- Forth: Every group need a principal student, he or she will organize the different job that will have every partner of the group. The information that they have to include in they dissertacion must be in English, but they are allowed to talk in Spanish in front of the class.
- Fifth: teacher will give an auto evaluation test to every group and each student.
- Sixth: every time a group shows their dissertacion, teacher will ask for respect and silence. If students don’t respect the work of their partners, and they talk and do noisy thing, teacher will discount points in their final mark. To the students that are in front of class, they need to know about their respective subject, a very good personal presentation, and order in what they are showing.
The principal idea of this activity is to learn the importance of working group, how following instructions, and the respect to their partners. And they will be able to respect and know other cultures, which are more advanced that our culture one of the main idea is show them other kind of world and that they can do anything with respect and with organization.
OFT: Growing and Personal Self-Affirmation wich means help the students to develope their personalities and identities, reinforce their personal qualities, and improve their self awareness including the emotional dimention.
ResponderEliminarLa actividad está planeada para estudiantes de 4 medio. Uniendo la actividad con los contenidos del curso; el graffiti y el tag(firma)
First every student is handed a couple fotocopies containing different examples of typography: types of characters. The idea is that the students can see how characters can be done in many different ways, see how art and lenguage are conected, and at the same time see how expression and personality are deeply conected.
After seen this fotocopies they must choose one of the examples of typographies, mix them or create a totaly new one, but always having in mind that whatever the form of writting they choose it must reflect their personalities; the task is to write their names with their selection (they can add symbols, extra lines, repeting letters, etc). Once this is done they must pass to the final task that consist in ask every student to stand in front of the class, write their own names in the blackboard and explain to their classmates the reason they choose to write their names with the types of characters they did.
With this activity the students not only would be practicing contents referring the graffiti and the tag but also would be reinforcing their individuality, personal style, confidence and self esteem. To defend in front of other people something as trivial (as it could be seen) as writting can be quite a challenge to teenagers because they are living the time in wich, one way or the other, they’re forced to choose paths for their future lives.

ResponderEliminarThis activity would be develop in 6th grade taking into account that now they are learning the adjectives.
First of all I will introduce the class with a good characterization of the entire class as an incentive to keep that feature. The characteristic that I want to maintain and teach, at the same, time is the RESPECT among the students and their differences.
In concrete aspects I will ask them to put their chairs in a circle. After that they will take a piece of paper and fold it as a fan. On the top of the paper they will write their names. Then I will order the students to give that paper to the classmate that is in the right side, in order to make all of them to write a RESPECTFUL adjective on it that describes each of her/ his classmates. Finally at the moment the students realize that the sheet that she/he has recieved, has her/his name on it, the activity will be finished.
This activity emphasizes the “Ámbito Del Crecimiento y Autoafirmación Personal” in order to make the students get to know between themselves, to accept and respect each other, but this knowledge has to be well communicated to improve their relationship.

In the first one they will gather in pairs and have a little discussion about the selected country, they will have to discuss about what they find interesting about each culture and how is it different from ours. Then, in the next session they will have do a presentation about the country they choose. They will have to wear traditional clothes and explain to their classmates what makes each country unique.
Apart from having fun and dressing with traditional clothes, the students will learn a lot form others places, people and cultures, and also to be respectful with everyone.

This could be a well-known person like a politician or a more abstract one such as global warming. I will send them the instructions of this workshop attached to some recommendations for them to do this work with an extreme objectivity. Then, they will have to perform a role game in which they will have to play what they investigate in the workshop. This will be held in a stage with set design created by themselves and in front of an audience. With this I want the students to get involved with what is happening in the present by reading, investigating with a critical point of view and to communicate this in an innovating way to other students or people who would like to attend to this act. Adding to this, they will improve their interpersonal abilities.

First, the students will be divided in pairs and every couple will received the information of just one place. The students will have to seek pictures according to the place assigned and bring them to the next class, adding all the necessary material for the triptych creation and read the respective information, of course. Second, when every couple has the material, it will started the phase of elaboration. Here the idea is to select the best images and writing the main features like what activities we can do there, and its location. Finally, when the triptych is done, every pair of students will have to explain and describe it in front of the course like an audiencie trying to convince that their place is the best one.
With this, we reach two important facts. The first one to call the attention at the moment of creating the triptychs of chilean places, and the second one, to work associative learning of English. In the process of learning a bit of our culture through this language.

Each group will have a list of verbs and a topic ( something related with daily life, challenges or experiences they have lived). In fact the purpose of this activity is to reinforce concepts which they are working on. In that case the past simple . So the students should create or tell a story they have alredy lived , using the list of verbs given. Obviusly the story must be narrated in the past. Then the group have to choose a narrator and the another members will ask questions to him. In that way the students could practise the affirmative , negative and interrogative form . And also it will stimulate sutdents to left fears behind, because they seldom speak english at classes. Eventually they will increase their vocabulary by learning new verbs but the most important feature that this activity have is to encourage children to speak english .

Then I would tell them to form groups and talk about one in particular, after a while the groups would have to tell the class what they consider to be the more important aspect of that culture, and how are they different from ours.
The last point of the activity would be a little chat about what the class considers to be the importance of variety and the importance of our culture to the rest of the world, and of course the importance of preservation of culture.
This activity pretends to create an atmosphere of tolerance in which the students will listen and respect each other’s opinion, and also will learn about other cultures and that they are as important as ours.

ResponderEliminarActivity to do: To do a round table and talk about the differences between our culture and the culture of a different country (UK or USA.) Then divide the course into two and create a debate about the positive and negative sides each culture has. Activity for 1st. high school level
The activity will begin with some brain storming of the positive things of each culture then make a break and choose five top cultural characteristics of each country, then we will focus on the bad or negative aspects that every culture has got, then again we are going to choose 5 of the most representative characteristics of each culture. Having these characteristics they will debate on which country has the best qualities. The idea is that they realise that Chile has as many good characteristics as any other country and they can learn to value their cultural heritage.

This activity will be applied to a 6th grade. The class will be divided into four groups, all of them with the same number os students. We will read the text called “different cultures”, which talks about 4 different boys in different cultures. They talk about what they normally do in their country, the games they play and the school they go. Every group will have assigned one of the cultures. After reading, there is going to be a few minutes to every group to establish differences between our culture and the culture they had to work in. They will have to explain to all groups what they found, and if possible to create a conversation about the most and least rare differences they found. Finally, I will tell them that they have to be respectful to all the different culteres that we have seen, and all the others we did not, because none is better than the other one.
